Hamilton Health Sciences’ vision for future endorsed

The Board of Directors of the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brand Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) has endorsed Hamilton Health Sciences’ (HHS) vision for its programs and services over the next 20 years. This long-range vision is the first in a multi-step capital planning process to renew our hospital facilities and the model of care.

Our vision for the future of healthcare in the region includes:

  • Using a whole-of-community, population health approach with a focus on the prevention of illness.
  • Empowering people to manage their health better and play a bigger role in their care.
  • Serving people closer to home by providing more services in the community.
  • Larger, technologically-advanced hospitals designed to meet future standards and population growth.

This endorsement allows HHS to proceed with more specific planning and design options.

“We are grateful to the LHIN Board for this vote of confidence in our proposal. Their endorsement is an important milestone in the planning process. We will continue to work with our partners to make our vision for the future of health care delivery in our region a reality.”
– Rob MacIsaac, President and CEO, HHS

“At its February 28 meeting, the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant Local Health Integration Network Board endorsed the first part of Hamilton Health Sciences’ Our Healthy Future redevelopment proposal. The Board endorsed the planned programs and services for the hospital’s proposed Capital Project which requires approval from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. The LHIN’s endorsement was with the understanding that the hospital will continue to develop its plans for programs and services and will continue to use a patient-centered approach to address outstanding concerns regarding access to health services with a special attention to the aging population.”
– Janine van den Heuvel, HNHB LHIN Board Chair
